Air Pollution
Air pollution impacts us all. It can move from your lungs into your bloodstream and reach many organs in the body.
If you suffer from long term lung disease including asthma or COPD, heart and circulatory disease, diabetes, dementia or are pregnant, you may be more vulnerable to the impacts of air pollution.

Appointments at your GP practice
If you have a planned routine appointment coming up, we may have to contact you to postpone the appointment.
If you have an urgent health concern or worry, we are still here to help you. Please continue to contact the practice as normal as it is really important you get the help and support you need. If your problem is not urgent, please avoid contacting the practice and instead visit 111 online or call 111, visit your local pharmacy or visit NHS.uk for advice on self-care.
We kindly ask all patients to bear with us as we work to deliver Covid-19 vaccines whilst continuing to provide urgent patient care during an extremely challenging time for the NHS. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.
Booster jabs
If you are eligible for your booster jab, please do not contact the practice as we need to keep phone lines free for patients who are trying to book urgent GP appointments. We will contact you about your booster jab or alternatively you can visit nhs.uk/covidvaccination or call 119 to arrange your appointment. There is lots of demand for appointments so if you can’t find a slot at suitable clinic, please keep checking back as appointments are updated regularly.
Covid-19 tests
If you have Covid-19 symptoms, please self-isolate and book a PCR test: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test. Following your result, please follow all the official guidance.
URGENT NEWS ABOUT BLOOD TESTS
There is a national shortage of blood bottles,
which is expected to last until at least 17th
September 2021. This is affecting every
healthcare service provider.
We have therefore been told by the NHS
to postpone all non-urgent blood tests.
We will:
• Review all of the required blood tests to
determine those that can safely be delayed
• Advise you if we feel that you urgently require
having blood taken to assist your treatment
• Add your name to a waiting list to rearrange
your blood test
• Advise you when the situation changes
We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience.
This is something that is completely out of our control.
Data Sharing
The current NHS Digital (NHSD) extract of GP data for Research purposes (known as the GPDPR) has been delayed due to NHSD wishing to review the way in which this data will be collected, to conduct more public involvement and information about the plans and change the way in which patients can opt out of the extract of their GP data.
Currently the only way to opt out is to complete a Type 1 opt out form and return this to the practice by the 1st September. However, this extract will not be taken until the NHSD have changed the way it will take the data and respect the patient’s choice for using their data. NHSD are introducing the following changes to the opt out process which will mean that patients will be able to change their opt-out status at any time::-
• Patients do not need to register a Type 1 opt-out by 1st September to ensure their GP data will not be uploaded.
• NHS Digital will create the technical means to allow GP data that has previously been uploaded to the system via the GPDPR collection to be deleted when someone registers a Type 1 opt-out.
• The plan to retire Type 1 opt-outs will be deferred for at least 12 months while we get the new arrangements up and running and will not be implemented without consultation with the RCGP, the BMA and the National Data Guardian.
This means that you can opt out at any time in the future and NHSD will delete data that they already have taken for research purposes, the deadline of the 01/09/2020 has been delayed until a new system of opt out is developed. Hopefully, this will be a simple centralised approach via the NHS app or NHS website to avoid paper form and administration work for your GP.
We will update you when we know more about the NHSD plans to change how you can control who has access to your data.

Covid Restriction Update:
Throughout the pandemic we have strived to make the surgery as safe as possible for all our patients and staff. We will continue to do so going forward.
From the 19th July nothing will change at the surgery - patients will need to still wear a mask, socially distance and use hand sanitiser in the surgery and staff will continue to wear PPE. We do understand that it can be frustrating but we know that when people come to us they are sick and vulnerable (and some cannot receive the covid vaccinations due to medical reasons) so we feel it would be wrong to not take these small precautions that can protect people.
In terms of opening up, as many of you know, we have never been shut and in fact have consulted with much higher numbers of patients than we did pre-covid (face to face, by phone, by e consult and by video), not counting vaccinating 90% of the adult population twice in the last 6 months.
Millview Surgery has come so far in trying to minimise the impact of Covid and we are sure you understand that we need to keep the surgery as safe for ALL patients as we can.
Latest News
COVID 19 has not gone away and Millview Surgery as a Practice will continue to do everything we can to keep all our patients and staff safe.
We have been open and safely seeing patients who need to be seen since the Covid pandemic began.
We are continuing to provide services, prioritising delivering care based on clinical needs.
When you phone the Surgery, you will be asked to provide some information about your healthcare need, and a phone call will be arranged with a Clinician. Face to face appointments are available to all patients when necessary, and these will be assessed by the GP when they phone you.
One of the challenges we face is the limited space we have in the waiting room to comply with social distancing rules. We are currently working out how to increase the number of face to face appointments further, whilst also keeping everyone safe.
It is REALLY important that those coming into Practice continue to follow the COVID rules. If you have a temperature, cough, cold, loss of taste or smell DO NOT COME TO SURGERY. Please ring 119 to arrange a Covid test. Please also note that whilst having the vaccine does give you very good protection, there is still a risk of catching COVID and passing it on to other people.
We thank everyone for their understanding and in helping us to keep everyone safe.

Face Masks
We would just like to remind patients that we request you wear a mask when coming into the surgery. If you feel you are exempt and cannot wear one, you will be asked to wait outside until the clinician you are seeing is ready to see you. This is to protect other patients and staff.
If you want to wait inside and wear a visor, please inform reception and we will be able to issue you with a visor.

The Covid-19 vaccination programme has begun. When it is your turn to be vaccinated, the NHS will contact you. Please do not contact the NHS.
In Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, a few different health and care organisations including hospitals, GP practices, care homes and others are working together on the Covid-19 vaccination programme. This means when it is your turn to be vaccinated, this may not be at your GP practice. You will be told where to go for your appointment and how to book.
In line with expert guidance, the first priority for vaccination is care homes residents and staff, people over the age of 80 and frontline health and care workers.
We understand a lot of people want to be vaccinated and would like to reassure you this will happen. Please be patient and wait to be contacted.
For further information on why you are being asked to wait for your Covid-19 vaccine, please read the information on the GOV.UK website or this leaflet.
New national restrictions from 5 November -Protecting people more at risk from coronavirus.
Sick notes are not needed for previous shielded patients or anyone new who is wishing to work from home. This is not a medical issue. The new rules say that if you CAN work from home you should be doing that anyway. Please contact your employer to arrange occupational health advice if needed.
